Room 6
SPECIAL THINGS FOR NICE PEOPLE.
Shortly after moving to Vancouver BC my wife Megan opened her first shop in “downtown” Deep Cove, just a stone’s throw from the house we moved into. Room6 was a business name she used when designing websites in Harvard square more than 10 years prior, so when she decided to get into retail the name was ready and waiting. Among other things, I came up with the logo and tagline “Special Things For Nice People”, language that was originally intended to be used as internal filter for shop decisions, but found it’s way to consumer-facing extensions. We recently redesigned the shop website, for it I executed the visual design (including all patterns and icons) and a third party handled the development and coding. After over 8 years the shop is going strong, and lead to my wife opening another shop right next door named A’hoy (check out its case study on the home page as well). It’s been a great learning experience for both of us to be on the client side, something every designer should do at some point.
